Solgar® CoQ-10 (Coenzyme Q-10) 30 mg Softgels contain KanekaQ-10®, a proprietary form of CoQ-10 fermented from yeast that is biologically identical to the CoQ-10 produced by the body. CoQ-10 exists in two chemical forms: oxidized (ubiquinone) and reduced (ubiquinol). Once oxidized, CoQ-10 (ubiquinone) is used in the body where it is transformed and converted to ubiquinol. Reduced CoQ-10 (ubiquinol) behaves in the same way, converting to ubiquinone when it performs its function in the body. As we age, our bodies produce less and less CoQ-10. This substance, similar to vitamins, can be found in different foods, but the organ meats, such as the heart, liver and kidney, contain an especially high level. It is also found in beef, soybean oil, sardines, mackerel, and peanuts.
